God fucking DAMMIT. Why did nobody tell me the 10G ethernet in the Mac mini was so goddamn flaky? It drops for 3-6 seconds at a time every few minutes. Unlike every other 2.5G device on my network.

That Mandela Effect moment in the making, where you suddenly think of a place called Vembria, then go Googling, find a supermodel, eventually find the keyword "Soviet", then find that you were actually thinking of Thembria from TaleSpin. Man, I haven't watched that since it was originally running on Disney Afternoon.

Why are we using scare quotes on "M4" when talking about new Macs? Are we still too terribly pissed that new CPUs are only incremental improvements over last year's models? Who gives a fig, it means we can finally stop lockstep upgrading constantly as technology slows down.

subtoot: why does the same person keep calling some computer a "M4 MB(not really)P" ... is it not really a MacBook? or are they implying they're not really for professionals? ¿Por qué no los dos? I guess I'm not really into Apple hate. Then again, I thought M4 hadn't launched in anything but the iPad Pro, so I guess I don't know, either.

Long winded Mastodon client rant

Does anyone know any #mastodon clients other than #tuba or #tokodon for #linux #desktop that can be similar to the #icecubes client for #ios/#iPadOS? These two desktop clients are sort of okay, except they tend to decrease my usage of the services terribly, frequently due to limitations.

Tuba works fine, and picks up all my notifications, but doesn't support more than a single account. Plus its spell checker seems to be going haywire here. It's highlighting the capitalized Tokodon, iPadOS, and in this paragraph, it's underlining the "doesn" of the above contraction. The "Check Spelling" feature also doesn't appear to indicate any idea of what it's offering in correction of the misspelled words, only a red underline to indicate an error.

Meanwhile, Tokodon doesn't have a spelling checker that I know of, but does break notifications in fantastic ways. Any time my boyfriend shows up in my notifications timeline, the timeline ends just above his post. If he's the most recent post, the timeline is empty. Great going, I can't track his posts at all with it, unless I happen to see them go by in the busy normal timeline.

At least both of these clients are better than some of the ones I've used that don't even observe your instance's posting limits and impose the upstream defaults regardless of what the server reports.

What is with #uber always directing drivers to use the freeways? At least where I live, the freeways are constantly bumper to bumper, with a huge number of trucks delivering crap to all the warehouses around here.

Just had a food delivery take a 20 minute detour across a quarter mile of clogged freeway before they got off to take the service roads for another 20 minutes.

I will never not spam the enter key when chatting on IRC.

I am literally gasping for breath between thoughts. And also gasping for attention. I cannot think for more than 5 seconds at a time. Don't expect me to form multi-paragraph posts to IRC. Or any instant messenger medium, for that matter.

Cool, the pest control guy showed up at the same time as our garden service, and now the cats' feeding area is infested with ants. They're milling around the carpet in there now. Guess the cats eat at the table now, one of the few places in our house that has never shown signs of ant infestation. #ants #pests #fuckinghellspawn
