Fucking Apple. I can't upgrade my iPhone to iOS 26.1, because over 32GB of the 64GB of storage is being eaten up by the OS. Oh, and it now saves cropped screen shots as JPEGs.
Google's AI helpfully gaslights you into thinking that the JPEG ringing artifacts are, in fact, "part of the new visual design."
Oh god, I think I figured out what iOS 26 is doing. It's mandatorily doing what they let you do optionally on desktop: Saving HDR screenshots to (lossy) HEIC.
