Cool, so I'm such a big dipstick, I didn't know that for some reason, Arch doesn't do auto resume of balancing of btrfs partitions on boot if you're using Dracut? And I also didn't know that you're supposed to resume balancing with btrfs balance resume and instead ran btrfs balance start which means I get to let my drives sit through another 24 hours of what they already spent the last 24 hours doing, in an estimated 48 hour balance job.
Cool, looks like it wasn't a total loss of work. dconvert=raid1,soft mconvert=raid1,soft applying the soft filter makes it so it doesn't redo all the work it already completed.
