Okay, that's it. I'm no longer going to support legacy operating systems with any of my software. If your machine can't run expressly the very latest of whatever OS I choose to support at all, then I'll ignore you. I cannot be expected to run old OSes, even if Apple drops support for my machines. I'll either use third party hacks to dodge those blocks and install the latest anyway, or I'll just throw my damn machine in the trash and boot something that doesn't lose support after only three years.

Cool, so my two older brothers are visiting us tomorrow. They're both just coming from having visited Disneyland today. They're also likely to not have worn masks at all for their park outing, or for their visit to us. They'll be arriving just as the time we usually eat lunch, but they'll already have had their own lunch.

Can't wait to finally get COVID after avoiding it for the entire pandemic thus far.

I will die on the hill that I will always explain things I just learned 5 minutes ago like I'm the foremost expert on the subject, to the person who is the foremost expert on the subject. It lets me pretend I actually know anything useful. I also love hearing things explained to me repeatedly, because I will probably forget those things by the time I hear them again, even if they're the most interesting things in the world to me. I have to Google things constantly to remind myself how to do anything useful any more. I also don't get jokes. Don't feign ignorance on a subject you don't want me to explain at great length like you were born yesterday. And even if you told me that you've been around the world for as long as I have, I'll probably forget that in the span it takes me to write this sentence. I only have room in my life for that kind of knowledge on like the 2 people I live with and the one I spend video calls with every day. And for future reference, I should probably restrict my personal interaction to just those three people, for the good of the rest of society. Lord knows, I have enough trouble having a meltdown like this every few weeks.

Thanks a lot, GamersNexus, for that bullshit about how the Intel Arc A750 was a better buy than the A770, because the performance difference isn't worth it? Yeah, nah, lots of things I care about need that 16GB of VRAM, just like how the 3060 Ti isn't worth it because the regular 3060 has 12GB of VRAM while the Ti only has 8.

I was playing Control in DX12 mode, medium quality, high ray tracing, and by the time I reached and cleared the first control point, while I was getting about 60fps at 1080p, it hit 8GB of VRAM in use, and a bunch of the textures, particularly text based, devolved into their minimum MIP levels and unloaded the rest, rendering them unreadable mush. But 60fps!

I've probably already been blocked by some people, but when I said I liked AI art generators, I did mean as a toy for exploration of ideas, not as something that will result in a lot of underpaid artists losing their jobs because corporations will decide that they can't afford to pay someone with actual artistic talent to at least babysit and edit the output of the stupid AI model. And even if they did decide to do that, they'd probably just undercut their "usual" art rates because "the computer does all the work."

Also I still see a decent sized market for real artists at least in the furry spaces, since people tend to pay generously for that. I know I did pay generously for a number of commissions over the years. I even subscribed to an artist's Patreon for over a year and got several commissions on top of the sub benefits. (This artist also required a sub to even commission them.)

Is it bad that I think that having rules against AI art generation gatekeeps the accumulation of artwork behind either having loads of money to pay artists, finding artists willing to work in exchange for things other than money, or having your own innate artistic talent? I guess I must have a sense of entitlement or something.

(Well, truth be told, I do have a sense of entitlement. For instance, I think I'm entitled to be able to write software to solve puzzles for me, and shouldn't have to use raw brain power or innate talent to directly solve problems. Back in high school, I wrote software to solve math problems, rather than actually using pencil and paper to write crap down. This actually got accepted most of the time back then. Screw the proctoring crap that remote schooling has now.)
